Savannah is the most beautiful girl who came to us with a sad story to tell. She was picked up as a stray and taken to the shelter in June. She had multiple bleeding masses on her belly and a limp on her back right leg. When we see dogs (and especially mama dogs) in that condition, odds are they were likely dumped due to their medical needs. She sat at the shelter until August, with no one adopting her and no rescues pulling her. Her masses continued to grow in size and became more irregular. The shelter labeled her urgent medical and set a euthanasia date if she couldn't find an appropriate outlet. Our hearts are with the mama girls, and we couldn't stand to see her be euthanized without a chance at receiving proper medical care and finding a loving home.
For the past three months, Savannah has been receiving comprehensive care. We ran full diagnostics and testing. We found that she was Valley Fever positive, with a low titer. We ran full x-rays and discovered that the limp in her back leg was caused by a torn canine cruciate ligament (a dog's ACL). She underwent surgery to remove the ventral/mammary masses, and they were sent off for biopsy. Savannah also received the TPLO surgery to repair her torn CCL. After her knee was fully healed, she was seen by an oncologist, and she received a third surgery to remove all of her lumps and bumps.
Savannah has since been healing beautifully. She is walking amazingly well, and has been back to her hippity-hoppity playful self. Sadly, though, she has been diagnosed with hemangiosarcomas. Savannah will be receiving a vaccine custom-made with the cells from her tumors so that her body can learn to fight the cancer on its own. In the meantime, though, this beautiful girl is happy, loving life and finally feeling good! We are SO proud of her and how far she has come on her medical journey. She is now ready to take the next step in finding her forever home! She is dog friendly and would make an incredibly sweet and loving family dog!
Her adoption fee includes her spay, vaccines, microchip, comprehensive medical already completed, and, if needed, we will continue to help support her family with her oncology care. Apply to meet this gorgeous girl. We promise you will be head over heels in no time.
Adoption fee: $250
